The Social Enterprise Coalition is the UK's national body for social enterprise. The Coalition represents a wide range of social enterprises, regional and national support networks and other related organisations. We work on behalf of our members to:
- Showcase the benefits of social enterprise through press work, campaigns and events
- Share best practice amongst social enterprises through networks and publications
- Inform the policy agenda, working with all levels of government, financial institutions, regulators and others
- Undertake research to expand the social enterprise evidence base
The Office of the Third Sector leads work across government to support a thriving third sector (voluntary and community groups, social enterprises, charities, cooperatives and mutuals), enabling the sector to campaign for change, deliver public services, promote social enterprise and strengthen communities.
Its overarching aim is to develop an environment which enables the third sector to thrive, growing in its contribution to Britain's society, economy and environment.
The Royal Bank of Scotland & NatWest
At RBS Group our Community Banking Team is at the heart of our activities with a particular focus on people, places and organisations.
This means assisting disadvantaged people and communities into the economic mainstream and helping deprived neighbourhoods become more enterprising.
We are focused on helping aspiring entrepreneurs to realise their dreams of starting up in business. We also help and advise not-for-profit organisations that are often at the heart of efforts to build stronger communities.
The Community Banking Team is able to show that, by working together, the private, public and third sector can make a real and lasting difference to the lives of people in some of our poorest communities.
Department for Children, Schools & Families
From our investment in Enterprise Education, which develops
creativity and business awareness, through to funding youth-based
social enterprises, DCSF is proud to nurture young talent. And DIUS is
keen to target those students interested in starting up social
enterprises through its funding of the National Council for Graduate
Entrepreneurship which, through its Flying Start 3-day residential
programme, supports a range of workshops and online personal support
including advice and mentoring.
So many young people are keen to change society for the better in
all areas, and they have the skills, enthusiasm and dynamism to achieve
this!
Communities & Local Government
Communities and Local Government has a vision of confident, vibrant, sustainable communities where everyone has a say in shaping their local environment.
Backed with £35 million of funding, the Community Empowerment Action Plan is being taken forward with partners in local government and seeks to encourage more asset transfers from the public to the community sector and to create a new network of 18 empowerment champions (local authorities who are broadening and deepening empowerment practice in their areas).
The Third Sector Team has been developing approaches to improve the understanding and awareness of the potential of the third sector, including social enterprise, in delivering on our priorities through better strategic partnering, involvement and engagement.
Social Enterprise Magazine
Social Enterprise magazine aims to be the most
engaging, informative and useful resource for business people who are
passionate about changing lives, building communities and nurturing the
environment.
Through our monthly magazine and daily online news, our mission is
to bring together the huge range of individuals and organisations in
the social enterprise movement in a space where they can learn about
and
inspire one another - and tell the rest of the world what they''re missing.
We will be telling your stories, uncovering the news, expressing
controversial opinions, digging deep into the big issues, leading
debate and setting agendas. Our team of journalists and expert
contributors will be doing all of this with the same spirit and passion
that gives the social
enterprise movement itself such a strong voice.
